During the past 10 years, we have been privileged to see a growing number of talented young violists contact us regarding a need for finer sounding small sized violas. The instruments that were being used were fine small violins strung as violas which somewhat satisfied the need, but never really producing a rich C string and true viola sound.
In 1993, we designed and started making 11", 12", 13" and 14" violas. These violas are constructed with wider lower bouts and smaller upper bouts to facilitate upper position work. The tone of these violas is clear and dark and the lower strings are very exceptional.
Because of their phenomenal tone, these violas have been selling as fast as they are being made. However, our 100% trade-in policy has recently allowed us to have more of these fine violas immediately available.
